Time is not only a subjective perception. It is an objective quality that we can study, organise, and plan in order to improve life in our neighbourhoods and in the city as a whole. Adjusting the city’s time to people’s needs makes people feel that time is not something that they are missing in order to feel better, but rather something that they dispose of and distribute harmoniously between the different areas of their lives.
Greek civilization described these dimensions quite well. Chronos: the measurable, constant, standardised time. Kairos: the qualitative, subjective, and changeable part that represents balance between the rhythms of the time dedicated to work, leisure, sleep, and relationships with people. This is a dimension that has been forgotten. From the department of New Usage of Time in the City, we are developing studies and experiments, so that the core of the plan of urban life is people’s time.
We hope that with your collaboration we can do it. Welcome to the time of this website, which I hope is useful to you.
